Terms of Service

Welcome to AltVerse. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the AltVerse mobile application (the "App") operated by Alternative Universe Ltd ("AltVerse", "we", "us", or "our"). By creating an account or using the App, you agree to these Terms.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use the App. If you are under 18, you must have the consent of a parent or legal guardian. By using the App, you represent that you meet these requirements.

2. Account Registration

You must provide accurate information when creating an account. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activity under your account. You must notify us immediately of any unauthorized use.

3. The AltVerse Platform

AltVerse is a music and content discovery platform where fans can:

• Mine Editions — Solve puzzles to mint digital editions of tracks and creator content
• Trade on the Marketplace — Buy, sell, and list editions with other users
• Earn Collectibles — Receive role-based collectibles (HOST, CURATOR, COUNCIL) that unlock special community powers
• Participate in Communities — Join creator chat rooms, listening sessions, governance votes, and prediction pools
• Fund a Wallet — Add funds via bank transfer to purchase editions and participate in the marketplace

4. Virtual Wallet

The App includes a virtual wallet powered by a third-party payment provider. By using the wallet you agree to:

• Fund your wallet only through approved bank transfer methods
• Not use the wallet for money laundering, fraud, or any illegal activity
• Accept that wallet balances are denominated in Nigerian Naira (₦) and are subject to the payment provider's terms

We are not a bank or financial institution. Wallet funds are held by our payment processing partner.

5. Editions & Digital Content

Editions minted through the App represent a digital collectible tied to a track or creator content. Editions:

• Are not securities, investment contracts, or financial instruments
• Do not convey copyright or intellectual property rights to the underlying content
• May include collectibles (lifetime rewards) that grant special perks at the creator's discretion
• Can be traded on the in-app marketplace at prices set by sellers

6. Marketplace Rules

• All sales on the marketplace are final once confirmed
• A transaction fee may be applied to marketplace sales
• Sellers may choose whether to include collectibles when listing an edition
• We reserve the right to remove listings that violate these Terms

7. Burn-to-Upgrade

The burn-to-upgrade feature allows you to permanently destroy multiple editions of one rarity tier to forge a single edition of a higher tier. Burned editions are permanently and irreversibly deleted. You acknowledge this before confirming any burn operation.

8. Creator Content & Intellectual Property

Artists and creators retain all intellectual property rights to their uploaded content. By uploading content to AltVerse, creators grant us a non-exclusive license to host, distribute, and display their content within the App.

9. Prohibited Conduct

You agree not to:

• Use bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the App
• Exploit bugs or vulnerabilities in the mining or marketplace systems
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other users in community features
• Upload content that infringes intellectual property rights
• Attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App
• Create multiple accounts to circumvent limits or exploit promotions

10. Account Termination

We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms. You may delete your own account at any time from Settings → Advanced → Delete Account. Upon deletion:

• Your profile and authentication data will be removed
• Any remaining wallet balance should be withdrawn before deletion
• Owned editions will no longer be accessible
• Some transaction records may be retained for legal compliance

11. Disclaimers

The App is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee:

• Uninterrupted or error-free operation
• That edition values will increase or maintain their value
• The availability of any specific creator content

12. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, AltVerse shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the App, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or digital assets.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Any disputes shall be resolved through the courts of Lagos State, Nigeria.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated Terms in the App. Continued use after changes constitutes acceptance.
